My Journey on the AJ Bell Money Matters Podcast
I recently had the pleasure of joining Danni Hewson and Laura Suter on the AJ Bell Money Matters podcast to share my journey; from working in high finance on Wall Street to becoming a writer, and ultimately a Jungian life coach.

Wall Street, kidnap survivor & best-selling author: How I became a life coach
Reflecting on my Journey
In the conversation, I talk about how I started out in investment banking, initially to support my goal of writing novels, and how that decision shaped the course of my life. After publishing my first bestseller, life threw me a few unexpected challenges.
I share my experience of surviving a kidnapping and later, breast cancer – two events that changed me deeply and helped me redefine my purpose. These experiences ultimately led me to train as a life coach, a role that allows me to help others navigate uncertainty, reconnect with their values, and build resilience.
In This Episode
Some of the themes we discuss include:
- Why I left the world of banking for writing and later, coaching
- What surviving trauma taught me about clarity, courage, and choice
- My approach to helping others through change and challenge
- The importance of financial awareness and how to spot scams in today’s social media-driven world
